PENRY PRAISES RITTER VETO OF 1072

State Senator Josh Penry, who helped organize a filibuster
over the pro-union HB 1072 with Senator Shawn Mitchell and
other Republican Senators exactly one week ago, today
praised Governor Bill Ritter's decision to veto the
controversial legislation.

Said Penry, "Bill Ritter told the labor unions and
overreaching legislative Democrats to stand-down, and he
deserves genuine praise. Leadership means listening, and
this Governor did that. It was the right thing to do for
Colorado and for his governorship.

"Republicans in the legislature deserve credit for putting
their foot down and fighting. This veto proves that a
well- organized and spirited minority can change the course
of events in this Democratic controlled Capitol."
